In the first eight months of the year, China experienced notable growth in its foreign trade sector, with the total value of imported and exported goods reaching 34.78 trillion yuan, equivalent to $5.18 trillion. This represents a 17.6% increase compared to the same period last year. Specifically, exports surged by 14.6% to 20.17 trillion yuan, while imports saw an even greater rise of 22%, totaling 14.61 trillion yuan.

The trade expansion gained further momentum in August, as total imports and exports of goods escalated by 19.8% year-on-year, reaching 4.65 trillion yuan. During this month, exports experienced an 18.6% increase, and imports climbed by 21.7%. These figures underscore a robust performance in China’s trade activities during this period.

For four consecutive months, both exports and imports have consistently achieved double-digit growth compared to the previous year. Notably, import growth has outpaced export growth for the last six months, highlighting a dynamic shift in the trade balance.

This sustained growth in foreign trade reflects the resilience and adaptability of China’s economy in the face of global economic challenges. The strong import figures suggest a robust domestic demand, while the export growth underscores China’s competitive edge in international markets.
